Darling, open your eyes.

"I see you, in a lonely place

How can you be so blind?

You're still regretting the love you left

Left behind

Oh, darling, I've seen you go through your changes

Sitting alone each night

Are you expecting to find a love?

A love that's right

Well, darling, open your eyes

And let me show you the light

Girl, you'll never find a love that's right

Well, darling, open your eyes

And let me show you the light

Girl, you think you're so wise, you're so wise."

Open your eyes. - Dwele, 2008.

Fall in love. Grow in love. Rise in it. Wrangle in it. Stray in it.

Whichever way you want to phrase it, that's what the world is missing.

Love helps you elevate and grow.

Love is elevation and growth.

It's fuel. If you can do it, do it. It changes life.

In all its glory and all its mess. It's never really love's baggage anyway.

Love is neutral; it's us who bring the volatile and eccentric party favors.

I'm excited for when it's my turn.

You can't just push books, suck in podcasts, and traffic quotes all day. When will the attempt be made?

You definitely can't consume trash music, movies, and momentos centered in disdain about whichever gender you ACTUALLY want to be with. Would you desire fresh foods for a delicious meal but only stockpile from the dumpster? Nah. You go to the store and carefully choose quality ingredients that align with the intent of your meal; what you put in matters.

Can we give love more care? Can we give love more credit? Can we at least show up the best we can when asking for love (who is so busy trying to be there for everyone, answering cries from Bangladesh to Brooklyn) to be there for us? Not that you need to show up in perfection (bc you can't) or "healed" (bc you won't), but showing up at least looking like we want to be here and we want love to be here with us.

We're asking a lot of love. We're asking that love presents itself not even as itself but as WE want it and WHEN we want it. Then, on top of that, we tell love that it is not enough! We say love needs to be attached to someone. Someone who is this height, this tone, this smart, this rich, this way, that way, all about us, always about us. We ask for a full adult human being who had never existed before they laid eyes on us and that they and their eyes only exist for us going forward.

We won't just bring the love we have, which is free. We want to work the labor out of love and freak it out to do for us, no questions asked. Love better have our love on time, or else! Right?

( Love might feel a little abused by us, don't you think? )

I think you should also know, as I wrap, every "you," "us," and "we" is a coat of armor I typed out because I couldn't bear to include so many"I's" and "me's."

Comment what song this post makes you think of.

My song is Stevie Wonder, Love's In Need Of Love Today.
